Story Behind This Painting: While attending the Sandhill Crane Festival in Monte Vista Colorado one March, I saw these Pintail Ducks in a nearby river. I took many photos of the ducks and caught these two males fighting with each other by rising up and pushing their chests into one another. I added the female bird from another photo to give the scene a narrative. I enjoyed working with the warm overall tone of the scene with touches of the the cool blue sky reflected in the water.
