Story Behind This Painting: I have painted a variety of Flamingo paintings over the years. I chose to paint this scene as a demo for a 3 day watercolor workshop for the Alabama Watercolor Society. I loved the bright light on the back of the bird and the almost mirror-like reflection of the bright coral flamingo. The dark, shadowed background creates depth and mood to set off the bird. The flamingos back leg and ripples in the reflection give the feeling of motion to the scene.
