Story Behind This Painting: I photographed this Pin Tail Duck in Monte Vista Colorado on a trip to see the migration of the Sand Hill Cranes. I had not seen a Pin Tail before and I think they are a beautiful bird. I enjoyed painting the look of the soft feathers on the the head and shoulders in contrast with the graphic reflections in the water.
